Iceland Says Darling Knew of Bank Guarantee Before Seizing Bank

Iceland's government released a letter suggesting the British finance minister received assurances about deposits in Reykjavik-based banks days before he froze accounts, stepping up tensions over the incident. The Icelandic Ministry of Business Affairs said it sent the letter to Chancellor of the Exchequer Alistair Darling in London three days before the U.K. Treasury used anti-terrorism laws to seize accounts at Landsbanki Islands hf.  29-Oct-08.
